a piece of history. sustainability.

2727 Oakes Ave was originally the home of Challacombe and Fickel Funeral Home. The four floors housed a chapel, viewing rooms, embalming room and the private residences of the funeral home director and family.

Botesch, Nash and Hall has brought the building up to code, increased function and returned the building to its original grandeur. Decisions throughout the renovation project were made out of respect to the historic nature of the building and our desire to preserve it.

In September, 2009 2727 Oakes was nominated to the Everett Historic Commission for placement on the historic registries list.

Much of the original still remains in this building today. The original tile was found beneath shag carpet in the entry way, the stain glass windows are still just as beautiful, and the woodwork is original.

When creating the space to house our architecture firm, we mimicked the original tile in our ADA approved restrooms, incorporated the inset detail of the original walls into our custom-built workstations.

The covered drive you see in the photo is in the process of being converted to a second conference room which will have paneled glass windows.
